Matthew Ward


Matthew Ward, born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on February 15, 1958, is an American Christian singer-songwriter, drummer, guitarist, and a member of Second Chapter of Acts, a vocal trio of siblings who were award-winning pioneers of the “Jesus Music” genre that is now called Contemporary Christian Music (CCM).

Matthew Ward is a member of the groundbreaking group Second Chapter of Acts, with his sisters, Annie Ward-Herring and Nelly Ward-Greisen, as they helped define contemporary Christian music.

Matthew Ward married Deanne Paul on September 03, 1983.

In 1993, Matthew Ward won a Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year for “Generation 2 Generation.”

In 1999, Matthew Ward was inducted by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
